She-Sheds are Women’s Answer to the Man Cave

And that’s the story of she-sheds, women’s answer to the man cave. She-sheds are very quickly coming into vogue and it’s easy to see why, as they provide a place of rest, relaxation, and balance to help women get through the day.

We’re going to take you through the basic components of a she-shed and how to build one, and show some examples of fantastic she-sheds for inspiration so you can make your very own she-shed for a little bit of rest and relaxation away from the house...

How do I make a she-shed?

Well, it really depends on what your space is like and what you plan to be using the she-shed for. However, there are a couple of best practice rules that will help you hit the ground running and create a she-shed and personal space that allows you to relax and be creative in peace.

  • Choose your shed carefully

Make sure you go with one that suits both your budget and personality. While living rooms, basements, and attics are also great rooms for this sort of thing, the distance of a shed from the rest of the house makes it perfect for the job.

  • Choose a theme

Ask yourself lots of questions and brainstorm carefully while finding a theme. What are your hobbies? How do you like to unwind? What activities would you need to make space for in the she-shed? Take all of these ideas and whims into consideration when settling upon a theme. Of course a theme is never necessary, but it does help to tie in the whole space together well.

  • Head to the shops

Now that you’ve got your theme, you wanna outfit the she-shed to make it a space you wouldn’t mind spending hours in. Be as thrifty as you like, this is a great opportunity to save some money by picking up items from places like second hand shops, antique stores, craft fairs, and garage sales.

  • Choose a colour palette

Going for a consistent colour palette will really make this space seem as though it’s yours and help you to enjoy your personal she-shed. So make sure the colour palette is consistent and in keeping with what you want the space to be.

  • Get to work

Now that all the planning is out of the way it’s time to get to work! Consider getting some friends around to help you with this part of the process. Of course, this will be your own personal space to get away from the world, but sometimes it helps to have someone around to bounce your ideas off.
